NARIGP History
INTRODUCTION

The National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) is a Government of Kenya (GoK) project that is implemented through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Fisheries and Irrigation (MoALF&I), State Department for Crop Development state department for crop development and agricultural research, with funding support from the World Bank. The project was approved by The World Bank board on 23rd August 2016, became effective on 28th July 2017 and will run for five years.

The Project Development Objective (PDO) is “to increase agricultural productivity and profitability of targeted rural communities in selected Counties, and in the event of an Eligible Crisis or Emergency, to provide immediate and effective response”

SCOPE
Project scope

The project is being implemented in 21 Counties:

 

  1. Arid areas – (Turkana and Samburu)
  2. Semi-arid areas – (Makueni, Kitui, Embu, Meru, Kwale, Kilifi and Narok);
  3. Medium-to-high rainfall areas – (Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nakuru, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nandi, Vihiga, Kisii, Migori, Nyamira and Homa Bay)
